Hank Thompson

If I ever think of a good way to describe Hank Thompson’s voice I’ll be sure to come back and add it here but damned if he isn’t one of the easiest singers to pick out of a lineup. The way he enunciates his syllables in a song almost sounds like he’s living at a different speed than the rest of us and he’s got all the time in the universe to get through the lyric, shaping it just the way he wants.

Anyway, Hank Thompson took Western Swings rhythm and instrumentation, told everyone to chill out on the constant solos so he could sing and had massive mainstream success with the result.

Despite what you may have read, the movie Crazy Heart with Jeff Bridges is not even remotely a biopic of Hank Thompson. When Hank or his music is mentioned in an episode of Cocaine & Rhinestones, it will appear below.
