You may have noticed that I read a lot of books to make this show.
Some of them are awesome. Some of them are infuriating. Nearly every single one of them, I will never read again. So what I’m going to do with these books is I’m going to give them away, one by one. You could end up with one of them yourself.
I’ll tell you more about the books below but if you already know you want to enter, here’s how:
- Go to Cocaine & Rhinestones on iTunes or Cocaine & Rhinestones on Stitcher.
- Leave a review for the show.
- Take a screenshot of your review and send it to me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
That’s all you have to do. At the end of the first season (the last week of January), I will use a data randomizer to select winners and contact them about receiving their book.
Just for this first season of Cocaine & Rhinestones, I had to read books with information on Bobbie Gentry, Doug Kershaw, Buck Owens, Jeannie C. Riley, Ernest Tubb, Starday Records, The Louvin Brothers, Wynonna Judd, Wynn Stewart, Ralph Mooney, Tom T. Hall, Merle Haggard…
Really cool stuff, right?
Now, if you want to read these books yourself then you may be better off going to the blog post for your favorite episodes, looking at my sources there and getting yourself a fresh copy. Because, my books, they’ve been through hell. I fold the corners of the pages so I can find what I thought was interesting. I make little symbols in the margins to remember why it was interesting. Sometimes, I straight up write full sentences in these books. If I were reading a book for this first time, I would not want it to be a copy of a book used as a source for Cocaine & Rhinestones.
But if you like what I’m doing with this show and you want to own a physical piece of the first season, this is your chance.
